Introducing a new
licensing system

What changes with the new license model?

To align with the current trends of how our programs are used at schools, we are introducing a new license system:

  • We transition from a school site model to a per learner licensing model.

  • As a school, you will only pay for learners who actively use our programs.

Ensuring stability with price protection

We are introducing our Price Protection Program, securing stable pricing for the next five years.

This program automatically applies to all customers under the new pricing model, protecting you from future price increases.

Exciting updates coming soon

We're making continuous improvements to our programs. Stay tuned for more details.

FAQs

1. When will the new licensing system take effect and how will the changes affect our school's current annual subscription?

The new licensing model will be effective with the date of your next license renewal after July 1st 2024. Under the new model your school will transition from the old school site model to a more flexible and cost-effective per-learner model.

You can select per-learner licenses for our math program Calcularis and early orthography and literacy programs Grafari (Erstes Lesen und Schreiben) or Grafari (Orthograph).

You can also purchase Combo licenses which include literacy and math programs per student, at a reduced price for the second program in a pack.

2. How will the transition to the new licensing model impact our school's budgeting and financial planning?

Under the old model, your school has been paying site licenses, which depended on the school size, rather than actual usage of licenses. This will provide greater transparency and control over expenses, allowing your school to allocate resources more effectively and optimize budgeting decisions.

Additionally, every school that renews licenses under the new pricing model, will automatically participate in the Price Protection Program, that secures and locks a price per license for the next 5 years. This ensures even more efficient and predictable planning of your budget.

3. How does new pricing work?

Unlike the old pricing model, the new pricing model charges based on active usage, ensuring schools only pay for licenses that are actively used by students. In our new price list you can see tiers of 3, 50, 150, 250 licenses that can be purchased at a certain price per learner.

If you need 97 licenses, you can buy a batch of 50 licenses for 35 CHF (1’750 CHF) and then add 47 licenses for 35 CHF (1’625 CHF), pay total of 3’375.

If you keep adding licenses, you can jump to the next tier. If you purchase extra licenses in the middle of the academic year, we will make a proportional discount and will renew these licenses at the beginning of the next renewal period.

4. What products are involved in the license model change? Is there any change in respect to how product licenses will be allocated to schools?

The license model change affects all Constructor for Schools products, namely, Calcularis, Grafari (Erstes Lesen und Schreiben), and Grafari (Orthograph). There are a few important changes that we would like to communicate:

  • Grafari (Erstes Lesen und Schreiben) and Grafari (Orthograph) will be deemed the same license, but 2 different products. It means if your school needs 50 licenses of any of Grafari products, we’ll allocate to you 50 licenses of Grafari (Erstes Lesen und Schreiben) and 50 licenses of Grafari (Orthograph). School teachers can decide which license assign to what child.

  • Grafari (Orthograph) will have a set of default courses that will be included into a license. We won’t sell additional courses on their own and if a school needs an additional course, they have to purchase it as separate licenses.
5. Can licenses be reassigned from one student to another under the new licenses system? Can I increase or decrease the number of licenses during the academic year?

Under the new license model schools can’t reassign a “used“ license to another student, and cannot remove the used license from the student it was assigned to, except at the end of the academic year. Schools can’t cut down the number of student licenses once the renewal has been made and licenses for schools allocated.

However, if a school needs additional licenses, they can buy them at any moment of the academic year. The newly purchased licenses will be renewed at the beginning of the next renewal period.

6. We are using Grafari with all our students, but use Calcularis only with some of them. Do we have to get a combo license for all of them? Or can we get a Grafari license for some students and a Calcularis licenses for others?

You can purchase literacy and math programs licenses separately.

However, if you’re planning to use both programs for a larger number of students we recommend to purchase Combo, as it’s the most economically efficient option. Irrespective of the batch of students you need licenses for, the second product will be always twice as cheap.

Thus 50 licenses of one of the products cost 1’750 CHF, 35 CHF per license, whereas 50 Combo licenses will cost 2’625 CHF, 52.50 CHF per license, which means that the second product in Combo will cost you 17.50 CHF per license. In a Combo the number of math and literacy program licenses has to be the same.

7. How is the Price Protection program will apply to our school's pricing over the next five years?

Price Protection Program allows schools to secure new license prices for a period of five years from your upcoming renewal date. The program guarantees price stability and applies automatically to all customers renewing subscriptions under the new pricing model.

8. How will the complimentary licenses for the Avatar and Constructor Classroom be integrated into our school's usage of Constructor Technology products?

We are offering complimentary free licenses of 2 Constructor Technology products:

Constructor Avatar (100 credits, worth 1,5 hours of video content) – an online video production tool with custom Avatars to create engaging classes or instructional videos. Avatars can serve as virtual presenters in the classroom, delivering content in an engaging manner. This can be especially helpful if a teacher creates video lectures or video explanations.

Constructor Classroom (1-year licenses for all teachers using our applications) – a virtual platform for online and hybrid sessions or meetings, will be launched later this year. Licenses will be provided upon availability of the product. Teachers can use Constructor Classroom for virtual meetings with colleagues, parents, or administrators. This enables efficient communication and collaboration regardless of their physical location.

9. Are there any specific requirements or actions our school needs to take to ensure a smooth transition to the new license system?

Our team will take care of moving your school to the new license system. We will calculate the number of licenses that your students used actively last year (for more than 1 hour) and will only renew these licenses and send you the invoice for these licenses. The other users will be maintained but will not get a license and you don’t have to pay for them. If you think you’d like to add more licenses, please contact us.

10. What support or resources will be available to assist our school during the transition period to the new licensing model? Who should we contact if we have further questions or need assistance regarding the changes outlined in the letter?

If you have questions about the new license system, please write us at: advisory-schools@constructor.tech.
