What's new

Live Events and Groups integration

Authors can now add a Live Event activity directly to course content. The activity can include a name, description, default duration, cover image, and code.

Instructors can create and manage sessions for a Live Event. For each session, they can configure:

  • Date, time, duration, and preparation time
  • Online session provider
  • Course term
  • Participants selected by term enrollment, unit, group, or individual user

Instructors can join a session, start it early when needed, cancel it, review participation information, and confirm final attendance.

Attendance information received from Groups is matched with Learn participants. Instructors can correct unmatched participants or update attendance manually before finalizing the session.

After a session is completed, instructors can open a read-only attendance report that shows learner attendance status, first join time, and last leave time. The report can be exported to XLSX.

Learners can see the details of sessions assigned to them and join an available session directly from the Live Event activity.

Learning progress tracking for learners

A new My progress tab is now available on course and program overview pages.

It gives learners a single view of their current progress, including:

  • Course or program status
  • Current total score
  • Passing score
  • Number of activities that can still improve the final score

The page shows the full course or program structure and the status, weight, score, due date, and available actions for each activity.

Approaching and overdue deadlines are highlighted, and learners can open or retake activities directly from the progress view when that is allowed.

Quiz question import from XLSX files

Assess now supports importing questions from Excel files.

Authors can select Excel file on the import page, download the supported template, and upload questions into a quiz or the question bank.

The import supports multiple worksheets, with each worksheet converted into a separate quiz section. Questions are imported in the same order as they appear in the file.

Supported content includes rich text, images, formulas represented as text, code, feedback, hints, scores, and the main Assess question types.

Validation errors are displayed when required values are missing or the spreadsheet does not follow the supported format.

Quiz question export to XLSX files

Authors can now download quiz content as an XLSX file directly from the quiz editor.

The generated file contains:

  • An instruction worksheet
  • A separate worksheet for each quiz section
  • Questions in their configured order
  • Question content, answer options, correct answers, feedback, scores, and other supported settings

Question pools are expanded in the export so the corresponding questions can be reviewed outside Assess.

Print-ready quiz export

A new Download action is now available in the quiz editor.

The print view includes course and quiz information, sections, text blocks, questions, answer options, correct answers, scores, and supported feedback.

Content is displayed in the same order as in the quiz editor and without editing controls, navigation, or application menus. The browser print dialog can then be used to save the quiz as a PDF for accreditation and record-keeping.

Team-based course access for instructors

Course access can now be managed through teams.

Each course is associated with a responsible team. Two instructor scopes are supported:

  • Team Instructor — access to all courses and terms managed by the team
  • Course Instructor — access to a specific course or course term

The selected scope is applied consistently to course content, enrollments, scheduling, assessments, the Gradebook, and reports. Administrators and users with global permissions continue to have unrestricted access.

Extended SCORM reporting

The Course by Activity report now supports two additional optional columns for SCORM activities:

  • Time Spent — the time spent to complete the activity.
  • Score — the score achieved for the activity.

Time spent is shown in a standardized duration format. The score shows the latest assessment result supplied by the SCORM package.

Learners can also see their accumulated SCORM time in the existing activity overview interface.

Public certificate sharing with learner consent

Learners must now explicitly approve certificate publication before a public page is created.

The consent dialog explains which personal information will become publicly visible. After approval, the public link is generated and copied to the clipboard.

Learners can deactivate the public page at any time. Once it is deactivated, the link can no longer be used to view the certificate.

Certificate links now use a cleaner public URL instead of internal application routing paths.

SIS synchronization improvements

The Student Information System (SIS) synchronization workflow now gives administrators more control over where imported data is placed in Learn.

Administrators can select the Learn term to use during synchronization. Synchronized groups and enrollments are then created under the selected term.

The unit structure has also been improved so a new root unit is not created during every synchronization. The resulting hierarchy is:

SyncEnrollment > Term > Course > Class

Locale-aware dates and times

Dates and times throughout Learn now follow the viewer's browser locale and local timezone.

This provides consistent regional date ordering, month formats, and 12-hour or 24-hour time display across learner and instructor interfaces.

Known issues

  • Live Event replay, recording management, Calendar integration, replay analytics, and cross-session dashboards are not included in this release.
  • Learning progress tracking for learners does not yet include an all-courses gradebook, sorting and filtering, instructor feedback, GPA calculations, credit-based averages, or term grouping.
  • SCORM time and score are available only when the SCORM package provides that information. Historical values that were not tracked previously cannot be restored retroactively.
  • The new public certificate consent flow applies to Constructor certificates. Credly certificate sharing continues to use the Credly flow.
