Constructor Groups: September 3, 2021

Overview

In this release, we introduced Breakout Rooms, enabling small group collaboration within a session. We also added second camera sharing and a new calendar view for a more organized experience. This version includes improvements to camera controls, reporting, and overall UI consistency.

What's new

• Breakout rooms: Instructors can create breakout rooms during a session to divide participants into smaller groups for focused discussions and activities. Each room has its own private chat and whiteboard.
• Second camera sharing: Users can share a second camera feed simultaneously, for example, to show both the presenter and a physical object or whiteboard.
• Calendar view: A new My Sessions calendar page is available in the panel, providing a clear and organized view of upcoming and past sessions.
• Question pool: Instructors can now save and reuse questions across sessions.
• Pointer tool: Presenters can use a pointer tool to highlight content.

Improvements and fixes

Improvements

We’ve made the following improvements:

• Camera experience:
  • Improved camera rendering, layout, and stability.
  • Camera streams can now remain open in the background to reduce reconnection time.
• Reporting: Reports now load faster.
• Mobile UI:
  • Fixed an issue on iOS where the PDF viewer overflowed the screen.
  • Improved whiteboard drawing reliability on mobile devices.
• File management: When adding a new tab from a file, the layout now defaults to Presentation.
• User management: When adding participants to a session, an error is now shown if Select all is used when no participants are available.

Fixes

We’ve made the following fixes:

• Whiteboard and drawing:
  • Fixed a bug where drawings could extend beyond the whiteboard boundaries.
  • Fixed an issue where drawings disappeared in replays until the page was refreshed.
• Session replay: Fixed a bug where the second camera feed did not appear in replays.
• Permissions: Fixed an issue where the Raise hand permission did not work correctly.
• Chat: Fixed a bug where the unread message count in the main chat did not clear after being read.
• Reports: Fixed an issue where the page could freeze after a "date range too long" error.
• User list: Fixed an issue where the user list did not refresh correctly after a learner was removed from the session.
