Overview
In this release, we added the following features:
- Firewall test page for enterprise customers
- Dynamic registration authentication for LTI
- Canvas section and role management
- Session layout options
- Compact chat layout
We also fixed issues affecting screen sharing, cameras, Canvas integrations, session layouts, chat behavior, and language support.
What's new
Firewall test page for enterprise customers
We added a diagnostic page that helps enterprise customers validate their network configuration before deployment. It tests WebSocket connections, media server connectivity across different ports, and S3 storage access, with real-time feedback for each check. This helps IT teams identify connectivity issues earlier and reduce setup time.
Dynamic registration authentication for LTI
LTI dynamic registration now includes an authentication step. Administrators can enable dynamic registration in Settings and define a password or secret key. When users register the tool in an LMS, they must enter this credential to complete setup, which helps prevent unauthorized registrations.
Canvas section and role management
Instructors and administrators can now manage sessions by Canvas course section. When creating a session, instructors can select specific sections, and the system filters the session list and calendar based on section enrollment. This helps deliver sessions to the right learners in multi-section courses.
Session layout options
Participants can now choose between side, focus, and chat layouts when shared content is active. The layout control appears in the header during screen sharing, video sharing, and presentations, so users can adjust the view to match the activity.
Compact chat layout
The chat interface now uses a more compact message layout. The sender name and timestamp appear only on the first message in a sequence, while the avatar appears on the last message. This makes the chat easier to scan while preserving context.
Fixed issues
We made the following fixes:
- Screen sharing disconnection handling: When an instructor's connection drops during screen sharing, the system now ends the screen share for all participants instead of showing an error state.
- Firewall test microphone permission handling: The firewall test page now handles microphone permissions correctly, so camera and screen-sharing tests can still pass when microphone access is disabled. Error messages are also clearer.
- Firewall test camera permission handling: Camera permission issues no longer cause screen-sharing tests to fail incorrectly, and the system now shows clearer messages when camera access is denied.
- Chat message memory usage: Sending multiple chat messages no longer causes excessive memory consumption.
- Focus mode screen-sharing positioning: The participant window in focus mode no longer blinks or repositions incorrectly when screen sharing starts.
- Profile image deletion notifications: The system no longer shows a generic error when a user tries to delete a profile image that does not exist. The delete button is now hidden when no image is present.
- Mobile focus mode layout: The participant window in focus mode now moves smoothly on mobile devices, and the layout remains stable when users switch between vertical and horizontal orientations.
- Layout persistence across activities: User-selected layouts now remain active when activities stop and restart.
- Canvas session calendar visibility: Sessions now appear only in the calendars of users assigned to the selected section.
- Canvas section editing: When editing a session, the previously selected section now appears correctly in the section dropdown.
- Canvas section requirement: Users can no longer create sessions without selecting a section when sections exist for the course.
- Canvas quick session creation: Quick sessions now appear on the dashboard immediately after creation.
- Canvas single-section interface: The section filter and dropdown no longer appear when a course has only one section.
- Dynamic registration setting persistence: The dynamic registration setting now remains enabled after logout and login when it was previously turned on.
- Dynamic registration terminology: References to LTI Deep-Sync now appear as Constructor Deep-Sync throughout the interface.
- Dynamic registration authentication flow: The dynamic registration flow now displays the authentication page and success confirmation correctly after password validation.
- Chrome 140 camera compatibility: Cameras now open correctly in Chrome 140.
- Safari device list display: The device selection list now displays reliably in Safari.
- Screen-sharing scaling: Shared screens now scale automatically to fit the available viewing area.
- Screen-sharing banner positioning: The You're sharing your screen banner now stays above the header and footer when dragged.
- Grid layout with multiple participants: The video grid now adjusts dynamically without overlapping or leaving large gaps when participants join, leave, or toggle cameras.
- PDF aspect ratio preservation: PDF files now keep the correct aspect ratio when participants open settings or turn on their camera during a PDF activity.
- Recording progress tracking: Recording progress now increases steadily without resetting.
- Arabic language interface layout: The interface now displays correctly in Arabic, including participant counts, pin icons, and settings tabs.
- Multiple camera request handling: When instructors send multiple camera requests to the same participant, only one modal now appears.
- Camera limit notifications: The notification for reaching the camera limit now appears at the correct threshold of 24 cameras and shows the correct maximum count.
- Multiple camera activity support: Participants can now start a second camera activity with a different camera device without errors.
- Virtual background file size limit: Users can now upload virtual background images up to 5 MB instead of 2 MB.
- Whiteboard eraser tool indicator: The yellow shadow indicator for the eraser tool now appears in the correct position near the eraser icon.
- Chat avatar sizing: User avatars in chat no longer change size when the blue selection border appears.
- Scroll-to-bottom button visibility: The scroll-to-bottom button now hides correctly when all messages are deleted or when the user is already at the bottom of the chat.
- Canvas course synchronization: Canvas courses now synchronize correctly without errors.
- Canvas LTI tool initialization: Users no longer encounter errors when opening the LTI tool in Canvas courses.
- Session creation from Canvas: Instructors can now create sessions from the Canvas LTI tool without errors.
- API participant addition: Participant addition requests now complete correctly without returning system errors.
- LTI learner interface: Learners no longer see the New Session button when viewing the LTI tool on narrow screens.
